“Jeong (정)”
[juhng]
“In Korean, Jeong (정/情) is a profound concept describing a deep, long-standing emotional bond and sense of connection that encompasses affection, attachment, empathy, and warmth.
It is more than simple love, representing a fundamental interconnectedness that grows through shared experiences, even between people who might not always get along.
Jeong cannot be accurately translated into a single English word but is felt through acts of kindness, patience, sharing, and caring for others, which fosters a powerful sense of community and belonging”
With this understanding, we began building a series of programs shaped by the same spirit. 정 (Jeong) is about togetherness, grounded not only in shared heritage but in shared care and intention. As Asian Americans rooted in Chicago, we’re inspired by this legacy of hospitality and creativity.
In a time that often feels heavy, we hope to create more spaces where community reminds us that connection itself is a form of strength.
